Etsy vs The World: Sort(Long) Guide About Where to Start Selling Your Stuff as Creative
As a creative, you need to take care of your own brand, and where and how you sell your goods, services or communities is extremely important. This post is meant to share some thought around that.
Thought out the past 5 plus years I have been receiving a lot of questions from creators and small businesses regarding Etsy or where to start selling products. I remember back in the day when we first heard about Etsy we thought it was great, and like many other creatives, we start using it. Fast forward a few months later, with a mature business, we find it really hard to space what I call the Etsy trap.
Thats’ the main reason why I release this video below as the second video from my channel. To explain to creatives like yourself, how to make a better choice, regardless of what you are selling. And I’m using my business background to tackle the issue.
One of the premises of the video is to show you, for example, how much of 1000 EUR worth of sales will end up in your pocket. This will show you how expensive platforms like Etsy are, mostly because they offer no extra benefits.
Casey Neistat once said gear doesn’t matter, “the story is king” all serve the king (maybe he was paraphrasing) but the point is. When you are a creator, it’s your story that matters. Social platforms, websites, and storefronts should along with your brand and help to tell your brand story.
